The history.
Alfa Romeo built the iconic Giulietta series from 1954 to 1965, offering a wide range of body styles to suit all buyers. The lineup included a sporty 2+2 coupe, a practical four-door sedan, a stylish estate, and the open-top Spider.
Although every Giulietta produced used the same 1.3-liter twin cam aluminum block engine, they were tuned slightly differently depending on their application. The Giulietta Sprint, which began production in 1954 until 1962, utilized an 8.5:1 compression ratio and 1 downdraft twin-choke carburetor to produce 79 bhp at 6300 rpm. However, these cars could be ordered in ‘Veloce’ spec, which replaced the single downdraft carb with 2 sidedraft twin-choke carburetors and bumped the compression to 9.1:1 for a total of 89 bhp at 6500 rpm.
By 1965 more than 100,000 Giuliettas had rolled off the assembly line and roughly 24,000 of them were coupes.

THE CAR.
Chassis #149321069
The 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint presented here, is finished in White over a Blue and Grey interior and has just 65,000 documented miles from new, with much of that time being spent in sunny California. Thanks to meticulous ownership, each mile was tracked in a hand-writted log book from new along with a copy of an old California title circa 1987. The log book starts on May 20th, 1960 at just 25 miles and is updated with various bits of info such as the mileage, MPGs, any relevant servicing, and more. We also know at some point this Giulietta received an upgrade engine of Veloce spec.
The Giulietta remained with this owner all the way until 1987 where the final note was put into the log confirming its sale. The period between 1987 and 2014 is relatively unknown however, upon acquiring the car in 2014 the new owner decided to do a partial restoration totaling over $20,000. The restoration included a fresh repaint, reupholstering the seats, new chrome bumpers front and rear, and a full engine and transmission rebuild. Many of the original components survived and remained on the car such as the door cards, dashboard, gauges, steering wheel and more, leaving the overall interior as roughly 50% original. In 2023 various items were addressed to improve drivability such as a repair to the rear differential, an overhaul of the twin weber carburetors, and a brake adjustment.
As of today, this Guilietta Sprint is in exceptional condition with careful and meticulous long-time ownership. In preparation for this sale, we had the car fully serviced with all fresh fluids to ensure this Sprint is turnkey and ready for its next caretaker. It is in excellent driver quality condition that would also double as a casual show car for whomever would like that duality of use.
Included in the sale of this Alfa is the spare, jack, and various service records and a hand-written maintenance log.
