The history.
In 1978 Porsche was planning to eliminate the 911 to make way for what was supposed to be their new flagship model, the 928. The send off model was to be the “SC”, short for Super Carrera. The SC was envisioned as a nod to the 911 enthusiasts to give them one last model before they’d need to convert over to the front-engine based projects Porsche was working on.
The SC gained a host of upgrades over the outgoing 1977 models. Externally, the SC was distinguished by its flared fenders, which were standard on European models, and mechanically received the revised European 3.0L motor that made 180hp up from the 2.7 liter unit in the 911S which made 157hp. Today, the 911 SC makes for a fantastic way to enter the air-cooled 911 club while not breaking the bank. Many SC’s have been produced but many have not withstood the test of time making the example available here, a rare opportunity to acquire a highly original, preservation quality example.

THE CAR.
Chassis #9119201738
The exceptionally original 911 SC presented here, by Animoya Garage, is finished in rare Light Blue Metallic with just 45,400 original miles on the odometer.
This SC was originally bought by William Colbert of Virginia, who owned the car for over 30 years before his passing. He left his long cherished 911 to his wife, who enjoyed it sparingly and eventually sold the car to the current consignor in 2014 who has cared for the car ever since. This is the first time the car has ever been offered for public sale.
Upon purchasing the car in 2014, the current owner and consignor had the car sent to a local specialists to have the car serviced and sorted before shipping the car home to Michigan. LMN Motorsports of Virginia Beach went through the car and replaced spark plugs, filters, wheel bearings, valve cover gaskets, and full major service with a valve adjustment was completed for a total cost of $1,921.08 in 2014.
From there, the car was shipped to Michigan and was driven sparingly at a rate of less than 100 miles per year, while being stored in a temperature controlled facility. Earlier this year, with the intent to pass this 911 on to its next caretaker, the consignor did a full detail and dry ice cleaning as well as had some mechanical issues addressed such as replacing a relay, bumper seals, brake hoses, and a recharge of the A/C system. In total over $7,000 was spent preparing this example for sale.
Today, this SC presents in fantastic original condition with largely original paint and all of its original interior preserved. Finding early SCs in conditions such as this one is becoming harder and harder, let alone one finished in such a rare and stunning shade of Light Blue Metallic and being specified without a Sunroof. In our eyes, the SC is the epitome of the classic 911, with the right amount of updates over previous cars while staying true to its original formula and arguably the model to save the 911 in general.
Included in sale of this 911 is the original books and manuals, tools, spare, and service records.
