The History

With one-make racing series gaining popularity across Europe in the early 1990s, by 1992 Ferrari had decided to throw their hat in the ring. The Ferrari 348 Challenge was unveiled at Mugello in September 1992, which took a normal 348, and added racing bits to prepare it for the track. Over a decade later, Ferrari continued to build Challenge models based on their road-going mid engine V8 models, however for the 360, they decided to build an entirely new model aimed at bridging the gap between the street and the track - This model was dubbed, the Challenge Stradale.

The 360 Challenge Stradale featured a host of upgrades that successfully reduced its lap time around fiorano by 3 seconds. This was achieved through extensive massaging of the bodywork, engine and gearbox tuning, chassis, suspension, and interior. The chassis gained a multi-axial carbon floorpan, titanium springs, carbon ceramic brakes, and a thicker hollow rear anti roll bar. The engine received a new ECU, new heads and pistons, and better transmission software - These tweaks increased power output to 419 hp. The interior was stripped and replaced all of its carpet, leather, and any other unnecessary materials with alcantara and exposed carbon fiber. The standard seats were also replaced with carbon fiber bucket racing seats. These weight saving measures totalled to approximately 240 lbs less than standard 360 Modena.

In total, Ferrari would go on to produce just about 1,300 of these racecars-for-road, and would aid in sparking the fascination with extreme track toys that you can put a license plate on and take to a car and coffee. With a mere ~400 produced for the North American market, the Challenge Stradale is not only a dual purpose machine, it is also highly collectible with prices seeing steady gains over the past year.

The Car

The collector-grade 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale presented here, by Animoya Garage, is finished in Rosso Scuderia over a Red and Black Alcantara interior with just 3,700 miles from new.

Originally delivered to Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, New York, this Challenge Stradale was promptly shipped to its first owner in Dayton, Ohio. Factory options include Handley Fire Extinguisher and HiFi Sound System. The car would change hands several times between 2008 and 2015 but remained in Ohio the entire time. In 2015, the 4th owner acquired the car with roughly 2,450 miles and kept the car in Florida for a handful of years. In searching the history, we found an old ad for the car that displayed two Platinum Awards the car had received during the 2017 Regional Ferrari Concours at Daytona, FL. By 2021, under the same ownership, the car only had 2,469 miles.

In 2022, the consignor purchased the car from a dealership located in West Palm Beach, Florida and shipped it to their residence in Pennsylvania. Over the next 3 years the miles would slowly accumulate to its current mileage of 3,724 before deciding that it is time to part ways. It was a cherished member of the owner’s collection and it was ritually maintained with 9 pages of service records from the local Ferrari dealership including a $15,000 receipt for its all important timing belt service in December of 2022.

Today, this Challenge Stradale presents in fantastic, collector-grade condition with no modifications and sub 4,000 miles. At the time of writing this description in November of 2025, it is the lowest mileage Challenge Stradale available on the open market. In preparation for this sale, a baseline service was completed in September of this year which included a routine inspection, an oil change, and brake fluid replacement.

Included in the sale of this Challenge Stradale are its tool kit, books, tire inflator, car cover, window sticker copy, service records, and a scuderia stripe sticker kit should the new owner want to add it.
