The history.

With the success of the 360 Challenge Stradale, Ferrari decided to keep the racecar-for-the-road party going with their newest mid-engine V8 model, the F430. This time, they would call it the Scuderia, and much like the 360, it would feature upgrades to the engine for more power, tons of carbon fiber, and a gutted interior to save weight.

The F430 Scuderia Spider 16M (which pays homage to Ferrari’s 16 Formula One constructor’s championships) takes it up several notches by allowing the driver to experience all of the madness but this time, without a roof. This marks Ferrari’s first entry into the V8 Special-Series to feature a convertible top. While it does add a few pounds over the coupe, it still sheds over 200lbs from the normal F430 Spider and grants instant audible access to one of the greatest V8 sounds on the planet, maybe only short of the V8s Ferrari used in Formula 1 at the time. In total, Ferrari would produce just 499 of these open-top racecars for just one year.

The ultra-rare 2009 Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spider 16M on offer here, by Animoya Garage, is finished in Rosso Corsa with a black and silver stripe over a Black interior. This example shows just 6,600 miles from new and has been under current ownership for the past 13 years.

This Scuderia Spider was originally delivered to sunny South Florida where it would remain for roughly 3 years. During this time it would change hands a few times before coming up for sale in Naples, Florida in 2012. This is where our consignor decided to purchase the car with roughly 3,000 miles and it has remained in his private collection ever since. Shortly after acquiring the 16M, the consignor went ahead and had paint protection film applied to keep areas such as the front bumper, rockers, inner wheel arches, the wing mirrors, a portion of the hood, and entire folding top mechanism cover. Routine servicing was handled by our local Ferrari Dealer, Cauley Ferrari with the last service having been in 2023.

Today, this Scuderia Spider presents in fantastic condition with just 6,600 miles. Overall, we think this example feels like it has far less miles than the odometer shows and presents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a limited edition modern Ferrari that is fresh out of 13 year ownership, and ready for its next caretaker. Looking at V8 Special-Series models that succeed this model, you will notice a trend in how much softer each edition gets. This era of analog supercars has slowly been phased out, leaving the 16M as one of the last truly raw road cars Ferrari would make and leaving us to believe there's plenty of room for the values to continue to climb.
