The History

With the success of the 360 Challenge Stradale, Ferrari decided to keep the racecar-for-the-road party going with their newest mid-engine V8 model, the F430. This time, they would call it the Scuderia, and much like the 360, it would feature upgrades to the engine for more power, tons of carbon fiber, and a gutted interior to save weight.

The F430 Scuderia Spider 16M (which pays homage to Ferrari’s 16 Formula One constructor’s championships) takes it up several notches by allowing the driver to experience all of the madness of a Scuderia but without a roof. This is something Ferrari hadn’t done before considering the Challenge Stradale, which was only sold as a coupe. While it does add a few pounds over the coupe, it still sheds over 200lbs from the normal F430 Spider and grants instant audible access to one of the greatest V8 sounds on the planet, maybe only short of the V8s Ferrari used in Formula 1 at the time. In total, Ferrari would produce just 499 of these open-top Scuderias for just one year.

The Car

This 2009 Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spider 16M presented by Animoya Garage, is finished in Rosso Scuderia over a Beige and Black interior. It shows 33,100 miles from new and comes equipped from the factory with $7,732 in options which included - Rosso Scuderia Brake Calipers, Handley Fire Extinguisher, Leather Upholstery, Special Stitching, and Colored Steering Wheel. A further look into the options decodes the following Extra Campionario (Special Options) include the Beige Leather Interior with Black Fabric Seat Inlays, Special Stitching in Red, Dark Grey Steering Wheel, and White Tachometer.

Originally delivered to Ferrari of Denver in Colorado, this Scuderia Spider only spent a few months in Colorado before quickly being sold to a private owner in Texas who began enjoying the car thoroughly. Over roughly a 10 year span, by 2019, the car had approximately 30,000 miles. During their ownership, in 2015, the CARFAX shows a minor accident, however after further investigation we were able to talk to a tech at the Ferrari store where the repairs were completed. They confirmed that a portion of the driver’s door was scuffed, and the side mirror was knocked off during a parking lot incident. The only work required was superficial - Replacement of the driver side mirror and paint work on a portion of the driver’s door. We are working to obtain a letter from the tech memorializing this story.

In 2022, Ferrari of San Antonio would look over the car thoroughly and address many items in preparation for the sale; before its 3rd owner would purchase the car and send it up to their home in Pennsylvania. The 3rd owner was quite sparing with their use adding minimal mileage in their several years of ownership. In 2024, the Ferrari Experts at Pocono Sportscar in Shohola, PA performed some service work on the car at roughly 32,800 miles which included a full fluids change, relubricating fittings, ball joints, drive shaft, steering linkage, and the replacement of some broken studs on the exhaust manifold. In the Fall of 2025, Pocono did an inspection on the car and reported that the car is in good standing - mechanically or otherwise. The clutch is also in excellent shape showing right around 86% life remaining.

Today, this 16M presents more like a car with half its miles and is ready for immediate enjoyment. Additionally, at its current mileage of 33,120 there is no concern for the value to diminish after adding to the total, especially considering the positive price movement these Scuderia Spiders have been experiencing. It appears collectors and the overall market have finally begun taking note of how special these cars are. Looking at succeeding models, each variant got softer, less engaging, and with more tech which amplifies the uniqueness of the 16M as an analog V8 experience that Ferrari will never replicate.

Included in the sale of this 16M are the manuals, Ferrari-branded car cover, Ferrari-branded trickle charger, tools, air compressor, Window Sticker, 19 pages of Service Records, and Classiche Red Book.
