In 2017, BMW unveiled the newest edition of M car, the BMW M2. Originally, the auto manufacturer withheld key ingredients that were found in other M products such as carbon roofs, ceramic brakes, and of course “S” motors. The original M2 came with an N55, which while potent, wasn't quite in the same league, and they never offered a carbon roof or ceramic brakes.
By the time they facelifted the M2 in 2018, it still used the N55 but an optional "Competition Package” would eventually be released which used the S55, another step in becoming a real M product. Built as a send-off for the F87 generation BMW M2 in 2020, is when the M2 arguably finally became a real M product with the introduction of the “CS”
The CS offered a host of standard upgrades as well as one very expensive, but necessary upgrade if you wanted the best performance on track as optional equipment. Firstly, the M2 received a carbon roof, a carbon hood with a functional vent, extra horsepower (now making 444hp, roughly 40 more than the Competition), light weight wheels, and finally, the optional carbon ceramic brakes which would add $8,500 to the total cost. All of these upgrades would result in 83lbs lost over the standard competition model. In total, BMW built just 2,381 units for the entire world, with roughly 600 coming to the United States, making it one of the rarest BMW M models to date.
The excellent BMW M2 CS, offered here, by Animoya Garage is finished in Hockenheim Silver with just 1,943 miles, and is desirably equipped with many enthusiast-friendly options such as a 6-speed manual and carbon ceramic brakes.
Initially delivered to Pacific BMW of Glendale, California on December 23rd, 2020, it was quickly sold and shipped to its first owner in Florida. Over the next year, the bulk of this M2 CS’ miles were added. By early 2022, it had 1,200 miles just before being sold to its second owner, which appeared to be a dealership who also resided in Florida. At this time it was serviced with an oil change, brake check and detail. In the second half of 2022, the current owner and consignor acquired the car and drove it sparingly alongside his G82 M4.
Today, the car presents in factory fresh condition showing only 1,943 miles from new. Every inch of this M2 is covered in PPF. The hood, bumpers front and rear, the carbon bits, the doors, rear quarter pants and headlights all have PPF on them and it is holding up quite nicely. All told, this M2 CS is actually extremely rare, as according to the M data works, which tracks build specifications across various M products over the years, tells us that only 12 were delivered to the United States in the exact specification we are offering. That is Hockenheim silver, 6-speed manual, gold wheels, and carbon ceramic brakes. If there was ever a modern, collector-grade M2, this would be the specification and mileage range that would command that designation. It is a box-checker example in every sense providing a unique opportunity to own an investment quality modern M car.
